Flower on an Uncaring Face

A hardy flower living on the edge.

Dear flower on an uncaring face,

how do you thrive?

Your purple petals dance

delicately in the wind and

I feel free.

Dear flower on an uncaring face,

how do you thrive?

Do you feel the dark clouds roll?

Do you feel the sky open up?

The first wet drop?

Dear flower on an uncaring face,

how do you thrive?

I promise I won’t budge you,

or disturb your peaceful swaying,

as I climb this uncaring,

unyielding face.

I promise I won’t step on

you as I slowly inch past

your delicate petals.

Dear flower on an uncaring face,

how do you thrive?

I envy you,

living in a hard world

and thriving.
